Sports Performance
My favorite subject in the whole world is calling yourself a sports performance coach because you train an athlete. I like to cook my own steak from time to time does that make me a chef? I checked my oil yesterday. Am I a mechanic? No. Calling yourself something and being something are two completely different things. A sports performance coach actually applies the sport of the athlete to the workout and improves the athleticism of the athlete as the first and only priority. Doing bodybuilding exercises should not be involved in the workout routine of an athlete. Bicep curls and ab crunches are not athletic. For that matter either is bench press. When do you curl a heavy weight in any sport. When do you lie on your back and crunch up? WHEN? If you are on your back pushing something off your chest then you already got beat and are defeated. Starting training for sports performance in a manner that actually replicates the sport's movements. Apply the same movement patterns as the sport. Apply them in the same position that the sport does and you are really on to something. Stop calling yourself a sports performance coach because your football player came to you during the summer and you got him bench pressing 300 pounds. You never made him an athlete. You never improved his performance. You improved his strength and the size of his chest. When Pec size becomes the tie breaker in overtime we as true sports performance coaches will worry about it.
